Q: In a day-care center, will a residue left by bonnet cleaning be a problem for children?

A:Although I would prefer thorough HW extraction cleaning each time, bonnet cleaning should not be a problem provided:

1.You use a quality detergent that dries to a crystalline residue, and there’s not a lot of oily soil to prevent that.

2.It’s mixed and applied properly.

3.Day care personnel are made aware of the importance of frequent and thorough vacuuming.

4.You slow down and extract and dry thoroughly during the monthly cleaning.

I’m far more concerned about tracked soil (fine respirable particles, lead, etc.) than I am about minor detergent residues following proper bonnet cleaning.
